My daughter told me that a friend of hers wasn't going to come to her sixth birthday party because he was going to hospital to say good bye to his sister who was dying from an incurable congenital illness. To compound the grief of her poor parents, the boys older sister had also died two years earlier at the age of nine of the same illness. The illness didn't affect males so he survived. I went into my studio a couple of days later having taken on board the utter devastation of their situation and wondering how they could possibly cope. I was playing the piano and singing when this song emerged and I pressed record as the words and melody just poured out.
