A live song written and performed by me. My middle daughter had invited friends from her class to her seventh birthday party over ten years ago now. A little boy told her he could not come as he had to see his younger sister in hospital for the last time due to a genetic terminal illness. It was the second daughter that the parents had lost as the illness was carried through the females. This song came about whilst thinking about how anyone could ever get over such a loss.

Words & Music Guy Johnson

We were always having fun
Oh the day had just begun
All the heartache of the night
Faded with the morning sun
Could it may a dream so real
Heaven knows the way I feel
It can take me by the hand
And can lead me there

Oh she's only sleeping
In this dream of mine
I don't ever want to wake
I just want her all the time
I can see her smile
I can smell her hair
Even though she's crossed that line
Between here and there

I recall a time so sweet
She would knock me off my feet
when she'd look at me and frown
For some silly thing I'd done
We were always having fun
But we knew the time would come
When he'd take her by the hand
And would lead her there

Oh she's only sleeping.....

I sometimes think I hear her knocking at my door
I find it hard to understand
She won't be round no more
Every day they say it's easier to bear
They may have the answer
But I don't know which way to turn
I don't know which way to turn
